Luke C. Williams
Assistant Chief of Police, Uniform Services Bureau
Luke Williams joined the St. Petersburg Police Department in June 1985. He oversees the Uniform Services Bureau. This division includes 49 percent of the Police Department's personnel and provides services 24 hours a day, responding to 911 emergencies, investigating crimes, crashes and much more. Embracing community policing, all members of the bureau work with the community to prevent crime and resolve neighborhood issues.
He has an associates degree from St. Petersburg College, a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida and is enrolled in a master’s degree program in public administration at USF. He is a graduate of: The Police Executive Research Forum’s Senior Management Institute for Police, Boston; the Florida Criminal Justice Executive Institute’s Chief’s Executive Seminar; Leadership St. Pete; The Eckerd College Leadership Development Program; The John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, Cambridge; and the Federal Bureau of Investigations’ National Academy, Quantico, Virginia, Session 222.
He has been honored as SPPD’s Police Officer of the Year, NAACP Community Service Award recipient, USF’s Distinguished Alumni/ Community Leadership Award recipient, 2004 chairperson for Leadership St. Pete, 2005 Leadership St. Pete Outstanding Alumnus Award recipient.
In addition, he has served on the boards of :The Pinellas County Urban League, the Police Athletic League and CASA. He is active in the 500 Role Models of Excellence Program and volunteers with the Pinellas County School Board and the Lakewood Jr. Spartans’ Football and Cheerleading Program.
