Lori Matway joined the city in 2007. Ms. Matway's responsibility includes growing the city's programs to support our schools, including the Mayor's Mentors & More program, which includes recruiting mentors for the city's 47 public schools, securing private funding for Doorways Scholarships, pairing public schools with corporate partners, funding incentive programs for principals of top-performing schools, coordinating other efforts to help support the city's schools and developing an internship program for city departments.
She holds a bachelor's degree in secondary social studies and a master's degree from the University of South Florida in education leadership, and is pursuing a doctorate degree in education leadership.
She was previously a teacher, assistant principal and principal with Pinellas County Schools, where she served as president and treasurer of the Secondary Assistant Principal's Association and was a finalist for the Nancy Givens Administrator of the Year Award.
