Chief of Staff
Mr. King has advised Mayor Kriseman for more than a decade. Prior to being named Chief of Staff, he served as a communications consultant to a statewide non-profit and as the Political Director for PICO (People Improving Communities through Organizing) United Florida, a network of progressive, faith-based community organizations.
From 2006 to 2012, he served as the Senior Legislative Assistant to then-State Representative Kriseman, overseeing the representative’s policy agenda and communications strategy. In 2012, Mr. King managed a successful statewide campaign against Amendment 3, a legislatively-referred constitutional amendment related to Florida’s budget. As the director of the Florida Democratic Party’s House Victory operation in 2008, he managed a team of nearly two dozen campaign managers and the organization’s multi-million dollar budget.
Mr. King is a Political Fellow with the Truman National Security Project, a national security leadership institute. He has dedicated his time to numerous local non-profit organizations including St. Pete Together and Creative Clay, Inc. He was an invited guest at the White House’s Community Leader Briefing Series in 2011.
Mr. King is a 2002 graduate of the University of South Florida St. Petersburg, earning a bachelor’s degree in Political Science.
