Mentoring by City of St. Petersburg Employees
An Administrative Policy allows any city employee to have paid leave of up to an hour to mentor in the schools each week. Currently, more than 100 city employees volunteer in our schools.
Anyone can become a mentor!
You do not have to be a City of St. Petersburg employee to mentor a Pinellas County student. Follow the steps below to make a difference in a student's life.
Step 1 - Attend a workshop
Workshops are held in various locations and times throughout the county, please click on the links below to find one that suits your schedule. (Note: workshops may not be held during July and August. Please check back periodically.)

Step 2 - Register with the school district. You must fill out and submit the attached form (click on the link below). Submittal instructions will be given at your chosen workshop. A background check will be done based on the information in your registration form.
Step 3 - Contact the Family and Community Relations Liaison at the school of your choice. This individual will pair you with a student to mentor. Please click below for a list of schools with their phone numbers. When calling your desired school, please ask for the community relations liaison for assistance.
