Weed & Seed is a multi-agency strategy that seeks to "weed" out violent crime, gang activity, drug use and drug trafficking and seeks to "seed" the area by restoring neighborhoods through social and economic revitalization.

Two days of information and training from experts in the fields of social work, law enforcement, education, mental health and other social services to encourage using positive messaging with our youth at St. Petersburg College's Allstate Center and the Child's Park YMCA. - Youth Leadership Academy (YLA) - YLA is an online curriculum designed for teaching life skills to young people. It is a unique learning environment that looks like a TV. show and engages teens like a video game. The participant would be able to fully engage in vital life skills topics such as team building, self discovery, conflict resolution, community involvement, personal relationships, STD/ AIDS Awareness, budgeting and many other areas essential to life skills.
- "ME I C"- Public Speaking Program- Public Speaking is essential to goal setting and confidence building. Safe Haven recruit youth and adults to test there public speaking and confidence ability. This program measures your proper speech and poise along with eye contact communication. Areas such as job interviewing are some of the advantages of being part of this program (8 weeks).

- "Sew What Club"- The sewing class is instructed by a professional seamstress who has devoted her time showing girls and boys the basics of sewing so that they may engage themselves in a creative activity. Sewing is a form of art and demonstrates talents which you never thought or dreamed you had. Areas of concentration; history of sewing, careers, fabric types, designers and other fundamentals are taught. Weed and Seed and Childs Park YMCA are anticipating this program to be a success.
DEFY- Drug Education For Youth This is a 2 phase program targeted for youth ages 9-12 years old. DEFY strengthens the ability and resolve of its young graduates to resist the pressures to become involved with illegal drugs and gangs that many of them will eventually experience. Defy has three goals: develop relationships, deliver life skills and deter drug use and gang involvement.

the African American Mental Health Initiative
The African American Mental Health Initiative was formed after a
recommendation from Shabazz Rogers, a member of the Weed
and Seed Prevention Intervention Treatment Subcommittee Mr. Rogers
recognized a need in the community for mental health education and
