CITY AND PROGRESS ENERGY ANNOUNCE FREE PROGRAM TO
HELP CITIZENS OF CHILDS PARK SAVE ENERGY, LOWER BILLS
 
St. Petersburg, Fla. (November 6, 2007) - The media is invited to join Mayor Rick Baker, members of City Council and the local business community as the city of St. Petersburg and Progress Energy begin an innovative program designed to help families save money on their energy bills. The Neighborhood Energy Saver Program, free to Childs Park residents, will be unveiled at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, November 7 at the Childs Park Recreation Center, 4301 13th Avenue South. Following the announcement, The Neighborhood Energy Saver Team will begin surveying local homes for energy saving improvements (media invited). Improvements will be provided at no cost to residents, including compact fluorescent lighting; water heater wraps and pipe insulation; water conservation shower heads and faucets; refrigerator-coil cleaning; a years supply of air filters; and additional weatherization measures. The Florida Department of Community Affairs, The Midtown Economic Development Business Center and the Childs Park Community Initiative also are community leaders in the program.
