BILLBOARDS BEGIN TO COME DOWN IN CITY AS AGREEMENT WITH CLEAR CHANNEL IS INITIATED
ST. PETERSBURG, FL (November 16, 2012) - On Monday, November 19 at 12:15 p.m., Mayor Bill Foster will be observing as crews permanently remove a billboard at the intersection of Central Ave. and 11th St. as part of the Billboard Relocation and Reconstruction Agreement with Clear Channel Outdoor.
The agreement, executed in August, 2012, calls for the permanent removal of 83 sign faces of the 124 Clear Channel owned sign faces in the city. In the future, Clear Channel may replace up to six of the remaining 41 sign faces with digital billboards subject to city regulations.
The purpose of the agreement was to permanently reduce the number of off-premise signs in an effort to improve public safety and the beautification of the city's roadways.
