• Wednesday, March 13, 1:05 p.m. - Atlanta Braves vs. Baltimore Orioles
• Thursday, March 14, 1:05 p.m. – Philadelphia Phillies vs. Atlanta Braves
Sunday’s game will also feature a children’s bike giveaway sponsored by the Optimist Club. A drawing will be held in between each inning! History buffs will note that the Optimist Clubs staged bike giveaways every year at Al Lang Field back in the days of the St. Pete Cardinals and Rays.
This is the third year for the new spring tradition in St. Petersburg. In 2011, Mayor Bill Foster succeeded in bringing spring baseball back to the historic Al Lang Stadium, originally built in 1977 to replace Al Lang Field built in 1947. The city recruited three international teams from the Netherlands, Canada and Seoul, South Korea, as well as college teams and squads from Major League Baseball franchises. This year, International teams are competing in the World Baseball Classic now underway, an event featuring teams from dozens of countries around the globe that is held every four years.
Be sure to join us next year when International Baseball will return to All Lang, celebrating a century old tradition of baseball in St. Petersburg!
