The city of St. Petersburg is proud of its public park system. Within the city you will enjoy approximately 2,300 acres of public land dedicated to parks and recreation in 137 parks, including the award-winning Boyd Hill Nature Preserve and the Lake Maggiore Environmental Education Center, historic Sunken Gardens, Dell Holmes Park and the Gizella Kopsick Palm Arboretum. Our city owned parkland includes fitness trails; picnic parks; playground areas; dog parks; skate parks; athletic fields, and beach areas.
Athletics and Parks Construction Projects, a division of the Parks Department, coordinates adult sports activities such as basketball, football, softball, youth sports and field rentals. The division is also responsible for athletic facilities and field maintenance, as well as construction projects throughout the park system.
You can help the city of St. Petersburg provide care and attention by planting flowers, cleaning up, raising funds and reporting vandalism and maintenance problems through the city's Adopt a Park Program. Call for more information.

Application for Park Permit - Outdoor Public Assembly
With 137 city parks, St. Petersburg offers ideal outdoor venues for family picnics, special events and gatherings. Some uses of city parks require a permit. The lead time for applying for a park permit is 15 business days prior to the event. Park permits are free; however, a fee is charged for the use of shelters with electricity and for maintenance services. Some events may require liability insurance, which is determined by the city's Risk Management Department.
