Noise Ordinance Update

In order to address concerns raised by the public and law enforcement, St. Petersburg is evaluating its noise ordinance. City staff has analyzed the city’s noise levels, conducted stakeholder meetings with the public, including affected businesses, researched model noise ordinances, presented to the Public Services and Infrastructure Committee, and worked with acoustic consultants. This process will conclude with a review of potential changes to our existing noise ordinance that will be proposed for adoption by City Council.

Solar Panel Ordinance (LDR 2017-08)

The City’s Energy, Natural Resources, and Sustainability Committee (“ENRS”) cordially invites you to participate in a public discussion regarding the potential adoption of a new city ordinance mandating solar panel installation for residential development, including new construction, additions increasing the total square footage of the principal structure by 75 percent (%) or roof repairs that replace 75 percent or more of the existing sub-roof. Before considering a final ordinance, ENRS requested that the City’s Planning and Economic Development Department perform public engagement to solicit opinions from city residents and related stakeholders.

Urban Agriculture Ordinance Update

In order to address a growing demand for urban agriculture in the City of St. Petersburg, the City is in the process of drafting an amendment to the City’s Land Development Regulations that will encourage the expansion of such uses citywide while mitigating any potential negative impacts to surrounding properties. City staff have conducted extensive research on the topic, analyzed model ordinances, presented to the Public Services and Infrastructure Committee, and have participated in multiple community meetings attended by urban agriculture stakeholders. Currently, the proposed draft ordinance is pending land use changes at the county-level before it will be reviewed for adoption by City Council.
