The CrimeReports website is intended to visually demonstrate police activity (as opposed to crime reporting) in the City of St. Petersburg. Calls for service events displayed on the CrimeReports website should not be used for Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) as the criterion for incident classification differ significantly. The CrimeReports website includes calls for service events that necessitate the creation of a police incident report. Therefore, some incidents called in by citizens will not be visible on the CrimeReports website because the responding officer determined no crime or significant incident could be substantiated.

In the context of exceptions, victim information (i.e. addresses) associated with incidents classified as sexual battery, adult abuse, and child abuse are considered confidential and is exempt from public release (in accordance with Florida State Statute 119.071).
