Private Wells

The City of St. Petersburg is requesting all customers using private wells for irrigating their landscapes to register their wells. There is no fee for registration. Well registration will serve as a means of accurately identifying private well use throughout the City and will assist:

Water Restriction Compliance Staff in enforcing current water restrictions

In identifying favorable locations for future private wells

Please click here to register your private well.

A site inspection may be scheduled to verify the existence of a well.

Effective January 16, 2007, the Southwest Florida Water Management District declared a Phase 2 Water Shortage for its 16 county area due to continued lack of significant rainfall and an increased demand for water.

Private well users may water once a week according to the following schedule:

  • Odd number addresses may irrigate on Sunday only
  • Even number addresses may irrigate on Saturday only.

Irrigation is permitted only between the hours of 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on the above days.

The City of St. Petersburg encourages citizens to use all water resources efficiently and to limit all use wherever possible. For more information on water conservation, please call 893-7261. Thank you for conserving our valuable water resources.

* Water restrictions are subject to change depending on environmental conditions. Residents are advised to be aware of current water restrictions by calling 892-5300 or click below to view Water Restrictions.
