In Florida between 12 and 18 percent of what we throw away comes from our own yards. The City of St. Petersburg researched ways to eliminate this large portion of material and started its own yard waste recycling program in 1986.
By 1992 the state of Florida passed regulations that kept yard waste out of lined landfills. In other words it became illegal to put yard waste in lined landfills.
Instead of sending yard waste to the landfill, we collect it at our five brush sites located throughout the city and recycle it into useful products.
At our brush sites city of St. Petersburg residents can drop off their yard waste and other recyclables and pick up free mulch for use at their homes or businesses. Our high quality log mulch and soil builder products are available for delivery within the city at a very reasonable cost. All of our products are processed to kill most weed seeds and insects.
