First initiated in San Francisco in 2004 out of a need to do something more effective to address the many issues/needs that the homeless population deals with on a day-to-day basis. It started as a grass roots effort that involved the community as a whole, to engage citizens, non-profits, government, churches, employers and corporations to partner together to resolve issues and provide solutions to homelessness.
It is a one-stop "customer focused" venue connecting homeless individuals with a continuum of services and consolidating available products and services, such as, medical care, legal counseling, substance abuse treatment, employment, haircuts, acupuncture, etc. and a variety of social services that can help lead to self sufficiency. In the last three years, since the inception of the event we have served close to 3,500 individuals.
