First initiated in San Francisco in 2004 out of a need to do something more effective to address the many issues/needs that the homeless population deals with on a day-to-day basis. It started as a grass roots effort that involved the community as a whole, to engage citizens, non-profits, government, churches, employers and corporations to partner together to resolve issues and provide solutions to homelessness.
It is a one-stop "customer focused" venue connecting homeless individuals with a continuum of services and consolidating available products and services, such as, medical care, legal counseling, substance abuse treatment, employment, haircuts, acupuncture, etc. and a variety of social services that can help lead to self sufficiency. In the last three years, since the inception of the event we have served close to 3,500 individuals.
Your participation is important and we hope to see the entire community step forward to volunteer their time, talents or treasures to ensure that this will be a successful and meaningful day and a means to a make a marked difference in the lives of those who are homeless or in need.
