Today, Apolitical - a global network for government, helping public servants find the ideas, people and partners they need to solve the hardest challenges facing our societies - produced a list of the 100 most influential people in climate policy.

Mayor Kriseman is one of them.

Others on the list include leaders like:

  • Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY)
  • Mayor Mohammed Adjei Sowah of the City of Accra, Ghana
  • David Attenborough, Broadcaster & Natural Historian
  • Gavin Schmidt, the Director of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies
  • Caroline Lucas, Co-leader, Green Party, UK
  • Greta Thunberg, Youth Activist
  • Pope Francis

Upon learning of his inclusion on the list, Mayor Kriseman said: “Being included in this powerful round up is incredibly humbling considering so many people are doing important work around the globe. Credit to my policy team, council members, and the residents of St. Pete for believing in our work. I am proud of our progress as a city, but there is so much left to do.”

According to the Apolitical website: “At a time when young people everywhere are marching to demand action on climate, it's more important than ever to celebrate and support those with the most power to act: the people driving tangible policy change. Drawing on hundreds of nominations from experts and leading organizations, this list celebrates politicians, civil servants, academics and activists.”
