Mayor Rick Kriseman to Honor Veterans November 11

ST. PETERSBURG, FLA (Nov. 5, 2019) – Mayor Rick Kriseman will celebrate Veterans Day by honoring veterans and presenting the Honored Veteran Award to an outstanding local veteran at the 6th Annual Veterans Day Celebration.

This year’s Honored Veteran Award will be presented to Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Geoff Barker, a highly-decorated veteran and author. Barker retired from active duty from the U.S. Army Special Forces at Fort Bragg as a Lieutenant Colonel and was promoted to Colonel in the North Carolina Guard. He relocated to Florida in 1989 to support the newly-created U.S. Special Operations Command at MacDill Air Force Base, where he devoted 25 years of service to the Special Operations Memorial Foundation and more than 60 years of service to Special Operations Forces.
