St. Petersburg, FL – The City of St. Petersburg is launching the 2020 housing-based opportunities for property owners and developers in the South St. Petersburg Community Redevelopment Area (CRA), with a focus on building or renovating four or more multifamily housing units for affordable housing.

This year’s housing-based opportunities include two new grants:
  • Affordable Residential Property Improvement Grant
  • Affordable Multifamily Housing Development Program

Additionally, there are other opportunities available for property owners and developers in the South St. Petersburg CRA. Visit

Housing-based programs are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Each program has its own application requirements.

Application Submission
The City will be accepting applications for the two aforementioned housing programs starting Monday, March 2, 2020.

To begin the application process, visit, navigate to Housing-based Opportunities and complete the online pre-screening form. After the form has been submitted, a member of the CRA team will contact you regarding next steps.

The housing-based opportunities are one of three components that make up the CRA Program – which also includes people-based and place-based opportunities.

About the CRA Grant Program
The CRA Grant Program was created in 2015 as part of the City’s innovative, 30-year revitalization plan designed to help boost private investment in commercial and multifamily residential development in South St. Pete. The CRA is generally located between 4th St. and 49th St., from 2nd Ave. N. to 30th Ave. S.

The program is comprised of three buckets of opportunities – place-based opportunities, people-based opportunities and housing-based opportunities.
