REMINDER: South St. Petersburg CRA Grant Applications Due Friday by 5 PM
FLYER: Apply by FRIDAY!
The city is accepting applications through June 16 for the 2017 community redevelopment grant program to help support private investment in the South St. Petersburg Community Redevelopment Area (CRA). City Council recently approved budget amounts including nearly $412,000 for commercial grants and nearly $122,000 for housing and neighborhood revitalization with a focus on multi-family residential property improvement grants.
The deadline to submit an application is 5 p.m. Friday, June 16, which must be delivered to the Ninth Floor of the Municipal Services Building, located at One Fourth Street North in downtown St. Petersburg, FL 33701.
Business owners located within the boundaries of 2nd Ave. N. and 30th Ave. S. between 4th St. and 49th St. are eligible to apply. For more information on the City’s grant programs and applications for the South St. Petersburg Community Redevelopment Area, link to the Web page, stpete.org/CRA
Grant applicants should also be aware of an Application Addendum that has been created to reflect City Council action on May 18, 2017. The Addendum will be available on the above Web page by Thursday, June 15. It is important to note that the Addendum includes information that all applicants must provide to the city so it can conduct criminal background checks. Applicants who have a felony conviction for financial mismanagement within the past five years are not eligible to receive South St. Petersburg CRA Grant funding. Applicants must deliver this information to the Planning and Economic Development Department (same location as above) by 5 p.m. on Friday, June 23, 2017, in order for your grant to be processed and reviewed. Failure to do so will result in the application being administratively denied.
In addition, the Application Addendum includes applications for bonus awards that were also approved by City Council on May 18, 2017. These bonuses are for:
- using certified contractors with the city’s Small Business Enterprise program;
- providing commercial space for a user in the following targeted industries: Marine and Life Sciences, Financial Services, Data Analytics, Specialized Manufacturing and Creative Arts and Design; and
- creating and/or retaining jobs and hiring CRA residents.
