RACE WEEKEND OPENS WITH A FAST FRIDAY COMMUNITY BLOCK PARTY - MARCH 27 AT 5:30 P.M.
St. Petersburg invites race fans to come out and celebrate the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg with a special Last Friday - or "Fast Friday" Block Party on Friday, March 27 from 5:30 to 10 p.m. on Central Avenue between Second and Third Streets.
Block Party goers can expect live music, beverage vendors, as well as family-friendly activities with prizes and interactive games from Firestone. Kids will enjoy race-themed activity zones, and runners participating in Firestone Grand Prix 5K Run will join in the festivities for their awards ceremonies and official after-race party at the Block Party.
The Block Party is just one way St. Petersburg is "Embracing the Race," an effort championed by Deputy Mayor Kanika Tomalin, who will don the title of the city's Chief Party Officer for race week. Local businesses were invited to a briefing by city and race officials to learn how they can participate in race week, receiving business kits that include store window posters, race flags, and the recipe to the city's official cocktail of race week, called the Sun Racer.
