Florida Bike Month Recognized with Bike To Work Day This Friday, March 16
As part of Florida Bike Month, the City of St. Petersburg is promoting this Friday, March 16, as Bike to Work Day, with a set of three group bicycle rides, ending with a rally at Williams Park, 330 Second Ave. N.
Citizens and media are invited to join riders at 7 a.m., at three locations:
- Coffee Pot Park, at the corner of 1st St. and 30th Ave. NE.;
- The Historic Train Station at the Morean Center for Clay, 420 22nd St. S.;
- Bartlett Park, 4th St. and 18th Ave. S.
Riders will depart from each location at 7:15 a.m. for Williams Park. Mayor Kriseman will lead the bicycle ride from the Train Station. Once at the park, riders may enjoy free coffee and donuts, courtesy of Black Crow Coffee and remarks from Mayor Rick Kriseman.
Bicycling to work is a fast, economical, healthy, and fun way to get to work for many residents. In November, St. Pete was named a Silver Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists, in part due to events such as Bike to Work Day, and for promoting bicycling as a sustainable transportation option.
