Youth Grant Review Committee to Host Public Panel April 22
St. Petersburg, Fla.(April 16, 2018) – The city’s Youth Development Grant Review Committee will host a public panel to discuss current grant applications at The St. Petersburg Greenhouse, 440 Second Ave. N. on Sunday, April 22, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Launched in January, the Youth Development Grant Program is a new source of funding for local organizations to develop programs for at-risk youth in St. Petersburg. In 2018, the program offers funding amounts from $1,500 up to $25,000 to non-profit local organizations, in good standing, who provide services to at-risk youth and are located within the municipal boundaries of St. Petersburg.
The April 22 session begins at 10 a.m. with a panel meeting. Beginning at 11 a.m., 53 applications will be reviewed by the eight-member group. The committee is also preparing to make their recommendations to Mayor Rick Kriseman. The public is invited to observe the proceedings.
Youth Development Grants are the fourth component of the My Brother’s and Sister’s Keeper initiative, started in summer 2016 with the Not My Son community canvass walks and intervention efforts; the Cohort of Champions youth training initiative; and the My Sister’s Keeper component, a series of Just Girl Talk conferences.
