Street Repairs force closures at First Avenue South; 31st Street South

St. Petersburg, Fla.  (September 17, 2018)   Drivers along portions of 31st Street South and First Avenue South may face temporary delays or detours due to street resurfacing at the intersection of those two roadways.

Following a washout of soils under the center lane of First Avenue South at 31st Street, workers will re-pack and pave over recently repaired sewer lines.

Crews will begin work at 9:30 am September 18 and will continue for two days until the road surface is fully restored.

While two traffic lanes along First Avenue South (eastbound) will remain open during the construction, there will be a full closure of 31st Street South between Central Avenue and First Street South. Drivers headed south on 31st can detour east on Central, south on 28th Street to Fifth Avenue South and back to 31st Street South to avoid the construction zone.

While detours and modification of traffic patterns will be fully signed, the City of St. Petersburg recommends that drivers find an alternative route during the construction times.
