Reclaimed leak stopped at Southwest Water Reclamation Facility
St. Petersburg, Fla. (October 16, 2018) – About 2,000 gallons of fully-treated reclaimed-quality water leaked from an 8” service line that was broken by a contractor digging to repair another pipe during construction at the Southwest Water Reclamation Facility (SWWRF) at 3800 54th Avenue South.
The unauthorized discharge –reported just before 1 pm Monday (10/15) – was stopped within five minutes.
While approximately 1500 gallons of the reclaimed water was contained on the site of the SWWRF, some 500 gallons ran into 54th Avenue South and then into a stormwater catch basin.
