A Black History Month Celebration

St. Petersburg is a city of opportunity for all, however, our history hasn't always been so bright. Mayor Rick Kriseman is the first mayor to raise the Dr. Carter G. Woodson African American Museum flag over City Hall in celebration of Black History Month.

This tradition has opened the conversation within our community to reflect on some of the dishonorable moments in history in St. Pete. Every year, we honor the African American pioneers who uplifted the voices of others.

Tune in to watch our Black History St. Pete Stories series with Deputy Mayor Dr. Kanika Tomalin, and President of the African American Heritage Association, Gwendolyn Reese to learn more about the stories and events that define Black History in St. Petersburg.
