About The Role

The City of St. Petersburg has more than 3,400 employees and a $711 million operating budget (2022) to serve its 258,000 residents. The City is governed by a strong mayor/city council form of government, and the City Administrator is appointed by and serves at the discretion of the elected Mayor. Work involves oversight of the programs and activities of municipal departments and the implementation and administration of City policies. The City Administrator represents the City and the City’s interests at meetings and presentations with City Council, government leaders, the public, civic and business leaders, and other related groups. They are also involved in analyzing, reviewing, and making recommendations on the City’s finances, spending, and budget. The ideal candidate has significant prior experience performing City or County Administrator duties, and a clear understanding of the principles and practices of public administration with a thorough knowledge of government function, organization, and operations.

Job Details

Depending on qualifications and experience, the salary is negotiable, but shall not exceed $228,000.00. The City also offers competitive health benefits that includes a City Wellness Center for primary care, separate annual leave and sick leave accruals, 11 paid holidays, bereavement leave, a paid parental leave program, and the option of a municipal pension or a 401(a).
