St. Petersburg, FL (April 13, 2022) - The City of St. Petersburg is searching for a City Development Administrator to join its team of dedicated and passionate leaders. As the 5th largest city in Florida, St. Pete is at a pivotal point in its growth. This person will have the exciting opportunity to partner with City leadership, elected officials and the community through transparent governance, strategic planning and inclusive programs to ensure St. Pete continues to be a place where people love to live, work, play and visit.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The City of St. Petersburg has more than 3,400 employees and a $711 million operating budget (2022) to serve its 270,000 residents. The City is governed by a Strong Mayor/City Council form of government and the City Development Administrator is appointed by and serves at the discretion of the elected Mayor.

Work involves oversight, development, implementation and administration of planning, zoning, economic and business development, licensing, inspection, urban redevelopment, property acquisition and disposition, transportation and parking and real estate and property management. The City Development Administrator promotes, develops and coordinates activities necessary to stimulate and market corporate and business interest in building and expanding facilities within the City. The ideal candidate has significant prior experience performing City or County community development administrator duties and a clear understanding of the principles and practices of public administration with a thorough knowledge of government function, organization and operations.

JOB DETAILS

Depending on qualifications and experience, the salary is negotiable, but shall not exceed $190,000. The City also offers competitive health benefits that includes a City Wellness Center for primary care, separate annual leave and sick leave accruals, 11 paid holidays, bereavement leave, paid parental leave and the option of a municipal pension or a 401(a).
