Two Opportunities to Give Your Input About Redistricting in St. Pete

On Monday, Sept. 12, the public is invited to participate in two (identical) public hearings to provide input on changes in City Council district boundaries. The public hearings will be held in Council Chambers at St. Petersburg City Hall to learn more about St. Pete’s upcoming redistricting process. The first meeting is at 9 a.m. and the second at 5 p.m.

Attendees will view a presentation of the proposed maps and can provide guided feedback to the Citizens Redistricting Commission. Alternative maps are being considered by the appointed Citizens Redistricting Commission.

About Redistricting
The City Charter requires a City Council redistricting process to occur every ten years in conjunction with the decennial U.S. Census. Redistricting is the process by which differences in the population of Council districts are equalized by adjusting district boundaries and furthers provisions of the Voting Rights Act principal of “one person, one vote” and provisions of the City Charter. Council districts are required to be “as nearly equal in population” as practicable or possible.
