Preliminary St. Petersburg Morning Report

Early reports : St. Petersburg did not appear to have suffered significant damage from Hurricane Ian at this time. We have reports of numerous downed trees and power lines. Push teams will head out at daylight to remove debris from downed trees from main roadways and access to hospitals, etc. We will have a more accurate count of downed trees and power lines later today.

Here is what is confirmed:

-79 traffic signals are out throughout the city. We are getting generators and stop signs to traffic lights and Police Officers will be on hand to monitor if needed.

-Police services have resumed to normal.

- Fire responded to one house fire at 10:14 p.m., 116 7 Avenue NE  that appeared to be electrical in nature. The fire was put out in 13 minutes and no one was injured. Minor damage.

- A tree caught fire from downed power lines and was contained.

- No reports of looting as of yet.

We ask residents to please stay off the roads today as crews clear power lines and trees and until we can restore power to traffic signals.
