St. Petersburg, FL (Oct. 11, 2022) - The community is invited to join the City of St. Petersburg, the Shine Mural Festival Arts Alliance and the Childs Park Neighborhood Association to celebrate the completion of the City’s newest lift station on Saturday, October 15 at 9:30 a.m., 690 43rd St. S., across from the YMCA.

Lift Station #87 is now complete with its own Shine Mural Festival art by local artist Jabari Reed.

This project is a great benefit to the community, particularly if St. Pete experiences a major wet weather event. The 3.5-million-gallon capacity per day lift station now connects to the Pasadena Master Pump Station via a new 16-inch diameter pipeline. The benefits include: Protection of the environment, minimization of wet weather overflows, improved system reliability during wet weather events, optimal location between the Northwest Water Reclamation Facility and Southwest Water Reclamation Facility and bi-directional flow so operators can send wet weather flows to either facility as needed.

The neighborhood art project, paid for by the contractor, Archer Wester, Inc., gives the lift station an artistic Childs Park community vibe. The artist, selected by the Childs Park Neighborhood Association and the Shine Mural Festival Inc., will discuss the meaning of the large-scale mural.
