City of St. Petersburg Urges Residents to Prepare for 2024 Hurricane Season

June 3, 2024 - The City of St. Petersburg is urging residents to begin preparation for the 2024 hurricane season which runs from June 1 to November 30.

The following opportunities are available:

Purchase Supplies During Tax-Free Holiday

St. Pete residents are encouraged to stock up on hurricane essentials during the 14-day Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax holiday from June 1-14, and August 24 - September 6.

Examples of tax-free items could include:

  • Flashlights and lanterns

  • Radios

  • Coolers and portable power banks

  • Batteries and fuel tanks

  • Generators

Fill Your Sandbags Proactively

Did you know the City offers free sandbags year round? Visit the Pavement and Traffic Operations Building, 1744 9th Ave. N, during City business hours, Mon-Fri to get up to 10 free pre-filled sandbags, per household.
