Project Overview

The project scope includes replacement of approximately 2,300 LF of a new 12-inch water main along 1st St. South from Central Ave. to 5th Ave. South, reconnecting the existing services, and installing new service lines. The replacement of the watermain will reduce water loss and the risk of watermain failure.

Project Background

The Downtown area of St. Petersburg is supplied by water through a network of approximately 530,000 linear feet of potable water mains. The City is prioritizing the downtown water main replacement areas into phases. The City is in the process of completing Phases I through III; Phase IV will replace approximately 2,300 linear feet of 12-inch water main.  All four phases will replace approximately 9,900 feet of 12-inch water main. 

Construction Timeline

Construction is scheduled to begin in September 2022 and for completion in January 2023.

Key Project Information

  • Water main replacement will be completed in segments to minimize impacts to traffic flow and disturbances to water service within the project limits.
  • All affected road surfaces and sidewalks will be restored.
  • Access to businesses and residences will be maintained at all times.
  • Funding is provided by City of St. Petersburg Water Resources Department.
