Health, Energy, Resiliency and Sustainability Committee

The HERS Committee's mission is to assist the City of St. Petersburg in continuing our Green City legacy of leadership and make progress in our policies regarding sustainability issues.

The HERS Committee deliberates and makes recommendations on policies relating to St. Petersburg’s energy usage, alternative energy sources, air pollution, issues related to Duke Energy, climate and environmental protections, waterfront planning, habitat protection, conservation, programs, recycling, and green infrastructure.   The committee also suggests direction for a climate action plan and adaptation planning goals.

Additionally, the HERS Committee also serves as point of contact to work collaboratively with scientific, regulatory, and planning agencies that have duties to address sea level rise and resiliency issues.  The committee also supports community-led sustainability efforts.
