Social service agencies have the opportunity each Spring to apply for more than $300,000 in competitive grants from the city of St. Petersburg. Grant applications are usually due the first Monday in July.
This annual funding opportunity is limited to social service programs that provide homeless services and/or homeless prevention services. Priority for funding: homeless families with minor or dependent children (highest priority), unaccompanied youth (second priority) and chronic homeless adults (third priority).
Important dates this year:
Social Action Funding Grant applications now available online: May 11 to July 5
Bidders/Technical Assistance Workshop, required for applicants: Friday, June 3
Social Action Funding Grant applications due: Tuesday, July 5
Social Services Allocations Committee Deliberations and Recommendations Meeting: August 26
Grant awards are not offered to agencies requesting less than $10,000 or more than $40,000. An agency can request funding for more than one program, but the total request cannot exceed $40,000. Agencies must submit ONLY ONE application.
A Mandatory Bidders/Technical Assistance Workshop is held each year at St. Petersburg City Hall, 175 Fifth Street North, about one month before the grant request application deadline. Attendance at this workshop is required to qualify for funding. Interested applicants are requested to print the application and guideline documents on this page and bring to the workshop.
In Fiscal Year 2016, the city allocated social services grants to 16 organizations in the community.

First Friday in June - Bidders/Technical Assistance Workshop, 9 to 11 a.m., at City Hall.
First Monday in July - Grant applications due by 4 p.m.; deliver to City Hall.
