St. Pete Water Shortage Order Goes Into Effect Dec. 1

St. Petersburg, FL (November 30, 2023) - Due to the current drought conditions, the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) has issued a modified Phase I Water Shortage Order that includes the City of St. Petersburg. The order goes into effect on Friday, December 1, 2023.

This Order comes after significantly below-normal rainfall, reduced river levels, and increasing water supply concerns. To help conserve water, the City is shifting to a temporary watering restriction of once a week. This restriction applies to properties watering with potable (City) water, water from private wells, or private connections to surface water sources (lakes, ponds, etc.). Additionally, residents should adjust their irrigation timer to ensure the settings are correct, as Restriction Enforcement Activities will continue to be enhanced. Aggressive water shortage action may become necessary if conditions worsen.

The schedule of watering will be in relation to the property address as follows:

Residents located outside of City limits or who do not receive their water from the City should verify their watering days and restrictions with their water supplier. Please note that St. Pete's watering schedule may differ from Pinellas County's.

This Order goes into effect on December 1 and is expected to stand until July 1, 2024. Please ensure all water systems are watering efficiently and are adjusted to the new watering schedule.
