Uplifting St. Pete Communities with Kindness and Compassion - Mayor Kenneth T. Welch Works with City Volunteers during CareFest

Oct. 10, 2023 – St. Petersburg Mayor Kenneth T. Welch demonstrated the power of the giving spirit with paint brushes and rollers in hand Monday morning. Mayor Welch joined the City’s Neighborhood Team (N-Team) and other city employees for exterior home improvement work, which included repainting a resident's entire home.

“Servant leadership is truly important to me and giving back in this way while our St. Pete homeowner watched the transformation unfold, made the volunteer work feel incredibly special,” said Mayor Kenneth T. Welch. “It was a blessing to meet his family, and I encourage our residents to join us for the remaining weeks of CareFest to uplift our neighbors in need, including disabled, elderly, veteran, and single-parent community members.”

The CareFest celebration of volunteering in St. Petersburg kicked off Friday, September 1, and runs through Tuesday, October 31. The City of St.Petersburg facilitates community outreach CareFest projects that help homeowners with minor home repairs, yard work and painting through in-kind donations and volunteers. Each year, volunteers complete more than 400 projects throughout the Tampa Bay area. To sign up for a project, please complete the volunteer form at www.stpete.org/ICAN.
