Terrorism-Current Threat Level

Chief Charles "Chuck" Harmon

The St. Petersburg Police Department is one of 754 law enforcement agencies in three different countries  that has received national accreditation and recognition from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (C.A.L.E.A.). Our personnel are committed to the C.A.L.E.A. ideal of EXCELLENCE. Excellence means going far beyond the line of duty, doing more than others expect. This is what excellence is all about. It comes from striving for and maintaining the highest standards, looking for the smallest detail, and going the extra mile. Excellence means caring. It means making a special effort to do more.

In order to achieve excellence, we will continue to practice our tenets of Respect, Accountability and Integrity, while providing professional service to the community. In addition, we are dedicated to the concept of (C.O.P.) Community Oriented Policing, which is predicated on a partnership with the community to mutually identify and resolve quality-of-life-issues.

The St. Petersburg Police Department has an authorized strength of 540 sworn officers and 234 civilian support staff, and each of these employees is eager to be of service to you.

I hope you find our website informative and helpful. Thank you for visiting with us."

Charles "Chuck" Harmon
Chief of Police
