Remembering Officer Todd Hancock's K-9 Partner "Doc"
This photo is in memory of Officer Todd Hancock's K-9 Partner "Doc"
Earlier this week, we lost Doc to kidney failure. "Doc" was born on June 8, 2007, so he was just over seven years old. He was the first K-9 partner of K-9 Officer Hancock; both started the unit together in October 2008.
In his six years of service, Doc has helped K-9 Ofc. Hancock catch his fair share of criminals. He's also assisted the K-9 Unit by performing in demonstrations for children and community groups in and out of St. Petersburg.
We thank Doc for his hard work and enthusiasm throughout his law enforcement career.
2014 - FORFEITURE FUND AWARD PROGRAM
The St. Petersburg Police Department is pleased to announce the availability of asset forfeiture funds for appropriation to community groups, associations or organizations.
On behalf of the men and women of the St. Petersburg Police Department – welcome to our web site!
St. Petersburg is the fifth largest city in Florida with a population of nearly 250,000. Our beautiful and modern city is surrounded by the Gulf of Mexico and Tampa Bay, providing residents and visitors with an outstanding year-round climate for many educational, cultural and leisure activities.
The St. Petersburg Police Department is one of 745 law enforcement agencies in the United States accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).
In 2009, CALEA conferred upon us the highest honor of a “Flagship” police agency, one of only a few departments in the nation to receive this elite designation. In 2012 the department was once again re-accreditated by CALEA.
Our agency is also one of 130 Florida law enforcement agencies accredited by the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFA).
These achievements reflect our Department’s commitment to excellence and our determination to adhere to the highest standards of policing.
Our Department is dedicated to a Community Policing philosophy, predicated on a high level of trust and partnership with the community, to mutually identify and resolve quality-of-life issues in our city. This policing philosophy incorporates the Department’s three tenets of Respect, Accountability and Integrity in our interactions with all citizens.
The St. Petersburg Police Department has an authorized strength of 550 sworn officers and 212 civilian support staff, and each of our employees is eager to serve you.
I hope you find our web site informative and helpful.
Thank you for visiting with us.
