We’re all working hard to Restart St. Pete and adapt to a new normal.

But, in light of the continued community health risks, we’re shifting our focus to reducing Pinellas County’s COVID-19 positivity rate and being Florida’s most COVID-safe community.

Our daily lives and important moments like holidays, weddings and graduations have looked a lot different, but we must continue doing everything we can to keep our community safe.

Pandemic Mortgage, Rent & Utility Assistance

Mortgage & Utility Assistance

Previously known as the Coronavirus Relief Fund, the Mortgage & Utility Payment Assistance Grant Program provides grants of up to $8,000 to eligible homeowners who are currently unemployed or underemployed as a result of the pandemic and have fallen past due with mortgage payments or other living expenses and/or are in jeopardy of future payment delinquency due to lost or diminished income. Rent Assistance

Renters whose incomes have been affected by the pandemic can receive assistance on rent and utilities through local non-profit organizations that the City has partnered with. More information can be found at

Additionally, the St. Petersburg Housing Authority will be accepting applications for its Housing Choice Voucher/Section 8 waiting list, beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 1, 2021 until 5 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 04, 2021. Applications must be submitted online at and will only be accepted during this time period.

Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) rental assistance is a government subsidy that allows eligible families to rent in the private market and pay approximately 30% to 40% of their income toward rent. The St. Petersburg Housing Authority pays the remainder of the rent directly to the landlord. Find eligibility requirements and more information here.

The City is developing a Consolidated Plan for community resources and values your opinion on what are the most important community needs.

Your input will help decide how money is spent to:

  • Obtain decent housing
  • Provide a suitable living environment
  • Expand economic opportunities for low- and moderate-income individuals
