St. Petersburg Partners with Lime for New Shared E-Bike Program

Discounted Rides Available via Lime Access

April 26, 2023 - In partnership with Lime, a micromobility industry leader, the City of St. Petersburg has launched a new shared electronic bike program. A fleet of 300 Lime Gen4 e-bikes has been released across Downtown St. Pete and surrounding neighborhoods and are available immediately.

"Getting around Downtown St. Petersburg should be safe, affordable, easy, and convenient for our residents and visitors," said St. Petersburg Mayor Kenneth T. Welch. "Lime's Gen4 e-bikes are smooth, eco-friendly, and comfortable. We're pleased to add this amenity as another green complement to the other modes of transit enjoyed by our residents and visitors like walking, e-scooters, the Downtown Looper and Central Avenue Trolley, and the SunRunner."

Riders will be able to access the e-bikes via the Lime app and Uber app platforms. Riders who qualify for discounted rides may opt-in for Lime Access, Lime's affordability program. Learn more: www.stpete.org/bikeshare.

With Environment, Infrastructure and Resilience being one of the administration’s Pillars for Progress, Lime’s shared e-bike program is an example of the City’s commitment to investing in environmental technology.

About the E-Bikes

According to Lime, the Gen4 e-bikes will provide riders with the smoothest and most environmentally friendly e-bike ride in Lime’s history. The most significant advancement is the swappable, interchangeable battery, which significantly enhances the efficiency and sustainability of our operations and improves vehicle availability for riders. Other highlights include:

  • Increased motor power to help riders easily climb hills
  • A phone holder, allowing riders to easily navigate and follow directions without having to stop and look at their phones
  • A new handlebar display mirroring the one on Lime’s scooters for a standardized display across vehicle types
  • An automatic two-speed transmission that eliminates the prior generation’s gears for easier acceleration and smoother ride
  • A modular design, extending the usable life to five years.
