St. Pete's Summer Reading Program Returns to Community Libraries

May 6, 2024 - Readers of all ages are invited to explore Adventure Begins at Your Library with the St. Petersburg Library System this summer. This free, educational summer programming will be offered from June 1 through August 4.

Summer programming will kick off at the James Weldon Johnson Community Library where participants can pick up a Summer Programming Guide and take-home activities. Participants can also download the Summer Programming Guide at splibraries.org.

Whether you're discovering hidden treasures in the pages of a novel or unraveling mysteries in non-fiction narratives, there's an adventure waiting for every reader. Join us and let your imagination soar as you embark on a summer filled with excitement, learning, and endless possibilities. The adventure begins here – at your library!

The Summer Programming Guides for youth include information on free programming, take-home crafts, reading challenges and prizes, curated book bundles, and more. Additionally, youth readers can participate in Reading with the Rays to receive two tickets to a Tampa Bay Rays game and other prizes.

The Summer Programming Guide for adults includes information on lectures, discussions, and more for adult readers, storytellers, and adventurers to promote lifelong learning.

The City of St. Petersburg, in partnership with Summer BreakSpot, provides free meals to children 18 years and younger at several locations throughout St. Pete during summer break. Free meals will be available on weekdays from June 3 through August 2 from 12 - 1 p.m. James Weldon Johnson Library (1059 18th Ave. S.) and South Community Library (2300 Roy Hanna Dr. S.) are among the participating locations.
